“We’ll hold the nest when your hands need a rest.”
The NeuroNest Difference
At NeuroNest, we believe that every family deserves trusted and compassionate care. We specialize in supporting children with autism by providing trained, patient, and deeply nurturing sitters—so parents can step away with peace of mind.
What makes your sitters different from typical babysitters?
Our sitters are trained specifically to support neurodiverse children, including those with autism, sensory needs, and communication differences. They’re selected not just for their experience, but for their calm, compassionate approach and willingness to learn what makes your child feel safe.
How do you match sitters with families?
We begin with a detailed intake where you share your child’s needs, preferences, sensitivities, and routines. From there, we hand-match you with a sitter who best fits your family. You’ll have the opportunity to meet beforehand to ensure everyone feels at ease.
Can I meet my sitter before leaving them with my child?
Yes. All Nest Membership families receive a complimentary virtual or in-person meet-and-greet prior to the first visit. For occasional bookings, we do our best to arrange a short introduction when time allows.
Are your sitters background checked?
Yes. Every sitter completes a comprehensive background check, reference verification, and is certified in CPR/First Aid. Safety is our top priority.
What ages do you work with?
We currently support children ages 2 to 12. For older children or siblings, just let us know—we may still be able to help or refer you to a trusted partner.
What if my child has specific sensory needs or behaviors?
That’s what we’re here for. We welcome families to share as much detail as they’d like in their intake form, and we use that information to prepare your sitter. Whether it’s meltdowns, transitions, or communication differences, we aim to meet your child with understanding and support.
What is a Family Face Sheet?
A Family Face Sheet is a brief, personalized overview that helps NeuroNest sitters arrive prepared and informed before their first visit.
It includes key details such as:
Your child’s preferred name and communication style
Sensory preferences and supports
Important routines, transitions, and expectations
Safety considerations and caregiver notes
What helps your child feel comfortable and successful
The Face Sheet is shared only with confirmed NeuroNest sitters who are being considered for your visit. Its purpose is to reduce uncertainty, support smoother transitions, and help sitters provide care that feels respectful and predictable from the start.
Families often tell us this step makes a noticeable difference—because sitters aren’t walking in cold, and children aren’t asked to start from scratch.
How far in advance should I book?
For one-time bookings, we recommend providing at least 48 hours’ notice, although we’ll do our best to accommodate urgent needs. Nest Members receive priority access and can often schedule with shorter notice.
Can I check in during the visit?
Yes. Many families appreciate peace-of-mind updates. You can choose to receive text check-ins, photos, or a summary afterward—whatever helps you feel confident while away.
Do you accept Respite funds?
Yes! NeuroNest families are welcome to use CAP/C, Innovations Waiver, Autism Society respite funds, or other approved respite supports to help cover sitter costs.
Here’s how it works:
You pay your sitter their standard NeuroNest hourly rate.
Your respite agency reimburses you directly for eligible hours.
We’re happy to provide invoices, service logs, or written confirmation if your agency requires documentation.
If your agency requires the sitter to be listed as a vendor/provider, we can help guide that process when allowed.
Why we do it this way:
Respite funds are designed to give families flexibility. By keeping payment simple and routed through you, families maintain choice while still receiving the financial support they qualify for.
How does the per-visit invoicing work?
After each sitter visit, your per-visit fee (based on your membership level) is automatically added to your account. Sitters are paid directly by you at the agreed hourly rate, while NeuroNest only invoices for the visit fee.
The invoice is automatically charged to your saved payment method, so there’s no need to track or pay after every visit.
We have concerns about ABA. How does NeuroNest approach this?
We understand that some families have concerns about ABA due to its history and certain practices. NeuroNest does not support compliance-based, punitive, or distress-focused approaches. Our care prioritizes consent, emotional safety, autonomy, and collaboration with families.
Can NeuroNest coordinate with my child’s therapy team?
Yes. With parent permission, we can align with your child’s existing supports to maintain consistency during care. Our role is supportive, not clinical.
Still have questions?
We’re happy to talk through anything—big or small.
